Home Depot Kids Workshops
A free, hands-on building session at every U.S. Home Depot store. Kids put together a small wooden kit with real hand tools such as hammers and screwdrivers, then paint it. Store associates acting as Workshop Captains run it, and a parent or guardian stays to help.
- When
- First Saturday of each month at all U.S. stores. It starts at 9 a.m. and families can drop in any time until 12 noon while kits last. A kit usually takes about 30 minutes. In 2026 November gets two workshops: the regular one on November 7 and an extra holiday one on November 21, the third Saturday.
- Ages
- 5 to 12
- Cost
- Free. Home Depot supplies all tools and materials, while kits last.
- Sign-up
- Register on homedepot.com/c/kids-workshop with the Register Now button. The form uses your selected store and asks for the parent's name, email, how many kids are coming and which workshop you want. Only open workshops appear in the list. On October 26, 2026 that was the November 7 Dump Truck. Registration for November 21 and December 5 opens November 7. Home Depot says registering does not guarantee a kit, so it suggests arriving early.
- Kids get
- The project they built, a Kids Workshops apron, an achievement pin and a certificate.

- Get there close to 9 a.m. Kits are first come, first served, and even registered kids are not promised one.
- Plan for about 30 minutes of building and painting, and stay with your child to help.
- Check that your local store is the one selected before you register. The form signs you up at that store.
